The Power of Persistence and Consistency

The Power of Persistence and Consistency

There is a need to be consistent and persistent in following God!

There is a need to be consistent and persistent in prayers!

There is a need to be consistent and persistent in doing good!

There is a need to be consistent and persistent in declaring the Word of God over your life and your situation!

A pastor once described prayer as a person trying to break down a wall; the person uses the tool to strike the wall – once – twice – thrice, and so on. The wall may fall on the first strike, it may fall on the seventh strike, it could fall on the twenty first strike. Each strike is equally important and contributes to the final outcome. So be encouraged, be persistent and consistent because you are closer to your miracle than when you first began!

Let’s explore the Bible to see what is written about persistence and consistency.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow (Luke 18: 1 – 8)

Jesus Christ was teaching and He used a parable to teach that people ought always to pray and not lose heart or become discouraged. In the story we see that the widow kept going to the judge to get justice from her adversary. The judge was an unjust judge, yet he granted her request because of her persistence.

See what the Bible records in Luke 18 verses 3 – 5:

Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ 4 And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, 5 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ” (New King James Version).

Praise God! Our God is a JUST judge. See what Jesus said in this regard in Luke 18 verses 6 – 8:

6 Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. 7 And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? 8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (New King James Version).

You who cries out to God day and night, praying and asking for justice, God said He will avenge you speedily. Hallelujah!

Note that verse 7 says “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him”. The elect of God are His chosen people, the redeemed. They are the people who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and are now children of God. If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus, there is good news for you. You can become the “redeemed”, God’s chosen one right now. You can surrender to Jesus and invite Him into your life and heart to be the Saviour and Lord of your life. What kind of adversaries are you dealing with? Take it to God in prayer and stand in the place of prayer day and night, and God will respond speedily.

The Destruction of Jericho (Joshua 6: 1 – 20)

God instructed the children of Israel to march around Jericho once for six days, and on the seventh day they should march around the city seven times. They obeyed God and did as He had instructed and the walls fell.

One interesting thing about Jericho is that it was on the way to the Promised Land. Something could be standing in the way to your “promised land”, your miracle, your place of blessing and rest. It would require consistency and persistence for you to have the walls of your own Jericho fall and the city destroyed so that you can move on to take possession of the things God has ordained for you.

Do not camp there, it is just an obstacle! Get up and continue your prayers (and fasting), praises, speaking the Word of God to the situation, doing good, studying the Word and do these things consistently with persistence and you will soon find the walls falling down and you will move on to your promised land.

The Arrows of the Lords Deliverance (2 Kings 13: 14 – 19)

When you read the Bible passage you see that the man of God was angry with the king because he struck only 3 times. See 2 Kings 13 verse 18:

Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; so he struck three times, and stopped. (New King James Version)

In other words, the king did not persist. He struck just a few times and stopped. As a result here is what the man of God said in 2 Kings 13 verse 19:

And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.” (New King James Version)

The Bible passage teaches that you should not give up or stop. Rather you should keep believing, working, trusting God, and doing all the things He has instructed you to do. You will get total victory in Jesus Name, Amen.

The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing”. It is pretty straightforward.

Some people give up easily. They make declarations over their health, their family or business or career for a few days and they give they up if they don’t see immediate results. The whole world was created by the Word of God (Hebrews 11:3), and so when you declare the Word of God to a situation and command it in the Name of Jesus Christ to align to the Word, it will obey you. Never mind how the situation looks right now.

Jesus said in Mark 11 verse 23:

“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says”. (New King James Version).

However, it is believers that have the right to use the Name of Jesus. Mark 16 verses 17 – 20:

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (New King James Version)

If you are a believer, fantastic! Congratulations, you have the right to use the Name of Jesus. Study the Word of God and locate God’s will and promises for your life and situation, and then inform those situations what God says about them (quote the Word of God to it) and command them to change and align to what the Word of God says in the Name of Jesus Christ.

If you are not a believer and you would like to become one and you are ready to surrender your life to Jesus and make Him Lord and Saviour of your life, click the LINK to pray the Salvation Prayer.

Remember, constant dripping of water wears away the stone.
