How To Activate an 11th Hour Miracle (Part 1)

The eleventh hour means the latest possible time before it is too late. It is a phrase that means “at the last moment”. It is taken from the Bible passage in Matthew 20 verses 1 – 16 where Jesus taught the Parable of Workers in the Vineyard.

In the parable, a landowner went out very early in the day to hire labourers to work in the vineyard and agreed to pay them a denarius a day. At the third hour of the day he went out and saw others standing idle, so he hired them as well. He went out again at the sixth and ninth hours and saw other workers standing idle, so he hired them. At the eleventh hour he went out and still found some workers standing idle. The Bible records in Matthew 20 verses 6 – 7:

6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.’ (New King James Version).

At the end of the day the landowner paid every worker a denarius as was agreed with the first set of workers who started early in the morning. To put it in context, the workers who were hired at the eleventh hour worked for only one hour but still received a full day’s wages. That is God’s grace at work!

The eleventh hour miracle is a miracle you get when it looks like time is running out on you. It appears you are going to go home empty handed. Can you imagine how the workers hired at the eleventh hour felt when they received their wages? I would imagine they were ecstatic because rather than going home empty and disappointed to their families, they received a full days wages when it looked like hope was lost.

God is still in the business of giving people 11th hour miracles. Whatever it is you are dealing with, you can activate an 11th hour miracle. Here are the 8 steps you can take to secure your miracle:

1. Do Not Give Up and Walk Away

From reading Matthew 20:6 – 7 you will notice that the workers did not give up and leave the arena, instead they stayed waiting for contractors or landowners to come and hire them to work. It is vital that you stay in God, do not go looking for alternatives.

A scripture in Ecclesiastes 9 verse 4 comes to mind:

“For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion”. (King James Version)

Remain in Christ Jesus and wait till your change comes.

2. Activate an Earthquake Through Praise

We know from geoscience that humans can trigger earthquakes. In the spiritual realm, we can also trigger spiritual earthquakes through praise. When Jesus was crucified and buried in a tomb, the Bible records in Matthew 28:1 - 2 that on the third day, there was an earthquake.

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. Math 28:1 – 2 (New King James Version).

A great earthquake took place, and an angel rolled away the stone from the door and sat on it. Hallelujah!

No matter what has been proclaimed a lost cause in your life, there is no closed case with God. Even if doctors have told you your sickness is incurable, or lawyers have told you your case is lost, God can give you justice. You want to have a child and you have been told it is too late? Or they have told you your matter is dead and buried? A great earthquake can take place and an angel of the Lord will roll back the stone and sit on it.

You can trigger an earthquake through praise. Read the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16:16 – 34. Paul and Silas were jailed and their feet were fastened in stocks, but at midnight they were praying and singing hymns to God. Here is what the Bible says in Acts 16 verses 25 – 26:

25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. (New King James Version)

A spiritual earthquake always brings about dramatic deliverance and breakthrough. You can do as Paul and Silas did, you can praise God and sing to Him. You can trigger an earthquake that will open the tomb, shake the foundations of the prison, open the doors, loose every chain and restriction.

When you do not know what to do, praise God. In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat and God’s people had a serious challenge; different armies came against them to battle. See what Jehoshaphat said in 2 Chronicles 20 verse 12:

O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” (New King James Version).

And they decided to praise God. 2 Chronicles 20 verse 21 - 22 records what happened:

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

“Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.”

22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. (New King James Version)

Another scripture comes to mind, Psalm 67 verses 5 – 7:

Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. 6 Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us. 7 God shall bless us, And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him. (New King James Version)

Praise produces blessings, the kind of blessings that makes the whole earth fear Him. Praise makes God fight for you and turn things around. As you praise God, He will bless you and give you an 11th hour miracle in Jesus Name, Amen.

3. Pray and Fast

Paul and Silas also prayed. The Bible says in Philippians 4 verse 6:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”. (New King James Version)

In the Bible, people who had challenges or bugging questions fasted and prayed to God. People like Esther (see the book of Esther), Ezra (Ezra 8: 21 – 23), Daniel (Daniel 9: 1 – 23, and the people of Nineveh (Jonah 3: 5 – 10).

Look at what God said about fasting in Isaiah 58 verses 6 to 8:

“Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are [b]cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard”. (New King James Version)

When you fast and pray, it looses the bonds of wickedness, removes burdens, destroys oppression, and yokes are broken. It results in breakthroughs and miracles.

So ahead, pray and fast as you present the matter to God and see God give you an 11th hour miracle. Even a one-day fast can change your situation. Here is a suggestion: begin from 12 midnight on the day you choose, have no food or drink (or water) for 24 hours or 18 hours. Pray and ask God to intervene in the situation, call upon the Lord and point out to God the scriptures where He promised to answer you e.g. Matthew 7:7 – 11, John 16:23 – 24, 1 John 5:14 – 15. Also point out to God instances in the Bible where He answered the prayers of people who prayed to Him.

4. Employ the Mystery of Thanksgiving

When you read the account of how Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1 – 45), you will see that before Jesus raised Him from the dead, he thanked God and Lazarus rose from the dead, though he had been dead for four days.

When you read Matthew 14:13 – 21, you see that Jesus thanked God, and supernaturally, five loaves of bread and two fish was enough to feed five thousand people.

There is power in thanksgiving.

Give God intense and heartfelt thanksgiving. Thank Him for what He has done, for bringing you this far. Thank Him that you are reading this. Thank Him for keeping you alive, after all if you were in the mortuary or the grave you would not be looking to receive an 11th hour miracle. Thank God for what He has done and also thank God intensely for what He is about to do.

I have heard of people who have stayed in the presence of God (maybe on their knees) thanking God on an issue that seemed hopeless, and suddenly God turned it around.
